I always had the artistic bug, but I knew I had found my happy place when sitting behind a jeweler's bench. That bench has morphed over twenty years into the studio it is today. Looking around, I see how much it has grown and I consider ourselves fortunate and very thankful to all of our customers who have supported us over the years.
Hi Hi. I'm Rebecca, the creator and designer behind Fireside Arts. When it comes down to it, I simply love making raw lumps of stone & metal into shiny sparkly treasures. With formal training in university and a self-taught drive to always learn more, I am continuously picking up new techniques. Along with my fiancee, Simon, we strive to live a simple country life while enjoying the big city lights of Atlanta just on the horizon.
Purely as a hobby, Simon's interest in lapidary and learning how to shape cabochon gems stems from his spelunking and rock hounding experiences.
Balance to a busy schedule means we work hard but carve out the time to play hard as well. Fortunately, we have family in both hemispheres, so traveling has given us the chance explore this big beautiful world. I remember one week, we drove far northwest into the bush to spend evening meals sitting around an old opal miner's hearth. We listened to tales of treasures found, passions of youth long spent, and of lives well lived. Moments like that are what I cherish about traveling. Photographs will remind you of the stretching landscapes, but it's the people you meet along the way who leave the greatest impression.
